PARK SLOPE BROWNSTONE
This ground floor was the family’s main living space, but was crowded and awkward.
We opened the room into the charming adjacent the garden with wide glass doors, and further opened sightlines by carving into the structural wall to the stair hall.
Circulation was reorganized to separate working reading and media from cooking.
The carefully detailed millwork conceals all the workings of the kitchen - appliances pantries etc. - so that it retains the elegance of a library space while fully functioning as a modern kitchen
Lighting was concealed in soffits and was directed upward to lift the ceiling, and to lighten and lift the space.
