SOHO LOFT
This classic 70’s Soho “shoebox” loft offered plenty of entertaining space for a gregarious young executive, but relatively little light.
To open the space and lines of sight, we established an enfilade of rooms separated by large glass and metal door panels which transmit light across the loft, and facilitate opening and closing of spaces. The home is generous, with flexible gathering and entertainment spaces, as well as privacy as appropriate.
A ribbon of rift English oak punctuated by frosted glass carries through the east wall of the loft, and unifies the kitchen, media room, bedroom and office spaces. This cabinetry conceals closets, media center, TV, wet bar, storage and library.
Indirect lighting bounced off the ceiling serves to open the space and to lift the ceiling height.
